How long have you been practicing yoga?

A total of 25 years, but as life goes there are times of really dedicated practice and others of a waning practice. Part of the practice of yoga is accepting that life has seasons and give myself grace and gratitude for however I can show up for my practice - breathwork, meditation, asana, service to my community. It's all yoga.

What made you want to become a yoga instructor?

Yoga was my medicine for battling panic attacks and anxiety living in NYC and battling tough personal situations. I wanted to help others feel the same clarity and strength in mind and body.

What yoga pose(s) makes you happy?

Savasana! HA! Also, anything that opens the heart and throat chakras. Working full-time for Nestle Coffee Partners at a desk all day, I crave anything that reverses the hunchback feeling. And, we are a society that closes these centers off to each other daily (get your head out of your APP! HA!). We could also use a little opening in our love and communication centers.

Describe yourself in three words.

Honest, Strong-willed, and my 9 year old son says, "Awesome!" I'll take THAT!

What's a pet peeve that you would make illegal if you could?

Slow drivers or people who don't use their blinkers!!

Are you sunrise, daylight, twilight or night? Why?

Daylight - It's when I'm at my best. Gimme a cup of good coffee, sunshine, fresh air, and the day in front of me and I'm hyped! Don't talk to me after 9pm, I'll be in bed with my lavender, ashwagandha and white noise machine.

Anything else? Is there a surprising fun fact you'd like to share?

I had a major life-saving surgery almost 2 years ago to remove my spleen and part of my pancreas. My practice looks different now as I regain strength, especially in my core, but I'm so blessed to be alive! My yoga practice reminds me that being present in every moment is the special sauce of life! No need to worry about tomorrow - today is the only thing that matters!

Do you have any other hobbies other than practicing yoga?

I love a good book, fiction & non-fiction, with a big cup of coffee! You can also find me every morning at 6am in the gym lifting weights or taking our 95-lb Charcoal Lab pup Zoe for walks. Recently, I started crystal singing bowl lessons! I'm so pumped to bring this powerful, healing modality to the studio as Payten's backup!

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to share a little about me with the yoga community!! :)
